Urpflanze

Villa Carlotta è una dimora settecentesca che si affaccia sulle rive del lago di Como, circondata da uno dei giardini più famosi d’Italia, e che contiene alcune opere della collezione di Gian Battista Sommariva. Con Urpflanze Frangi ha cercato un dialogo tra le sale della Villa e il parco che la circonda. La mostra è divisa in tre sezioni. La prima comprende cinque stanze con dei cicli pittorici recenti, si comincia da Selvatico passando da Alles ist Blatt per arrivare a Pasadena. Nella seconda sezione, la grande galleria del primo piano, è esposta La vita segreta delle piante, un ‘opera composta da 49 sculture in resina dipinta in bilico tra forme vegetali e abissi marini, collocate su degli sgabelli di legno progettati dall’artista. Infine all’esterno sono posizionate alcune installazioni cha vanno da Cacao, a Chiaravalle, fino alle Liane, un lavoro realizzato appositamente per la mostra e che come un serpente colorato stringe il magnifico tronco secolare della Douglasia, steso a terra nel prato.

Villa Carlotta is a 17th century Villa on the banks of Lake Como, surrounded by one of Italy’s most famous gardens, containing some works from the collection of Gian Battista Sommariva. With Urpflanze, Frangi looked for dialog between the rooms of the Villa and the park surrounding it. The exhibition is divided into three sections. The first one is five rooms with recent paintings, starting from Selvatico to Alles ist Blatt to reaching Pasadena. In the second section, the great gallery on the first floor, is the Vita segreta delle piante, a work of 49 resin sculptures painted between vegetable shapes and sea abyss, placed on wooden stools designed by the artist. Finally outside are some installations ranging from Cacao to Chiaravalle to Liane, a work specifically designed for the exhibition, and that like a colored snake tightens the magnificent secular trunk of Douglasia, lying on the ground in the meadow.
